Kosi Bay Turtles (21-24 Jan 2021)
Kosi Bay Turtles Tour.
The Kosi bay turtles tour is incredible as we watch nature in action. Come with us to visit magical Kosi Bay, located on the tip of the Greater St Lucia / iSimangaliso Wetland Park
We watch Kosi Bay Turtles laying eggs on our tour of Kosi bay
Kosi Bay has been designated a World Heritage Site and is located on the north-eastern coast of KwaZulu-Natal. It is close to the border between South Africa and Mozambique.
From late November for a few weeks huge Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles crawl up the beach to dig nests and lay their eggs. Later on in February we have the opportunity to watch as their hatchlings head back out to sea.
Viewing these magnificent creatures is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed!
Because we camp at Kosi bay for 3 nights we have lots of opportunity to stroll along the beach looking for turtles. The wild life rangers know and love this area so know all the best spots to see these incredible creatures.
Of course there is plenty of other activities to be had while on an overland 4×4 tour of Kosi bay. The snorkeling is world class and fishing for fresh sea food for dinner is great. We also see how the local fishermen made fish traps in the Kosi bays. A bit of everything for us to see and do.
