3 Day Overland 4×4 Tour of Lesotho (28-30 Sept 2019)
3-Day Overland 4×4 tour of Lesotho
If you need a peaceful break from the big city madness then come and join us between 28 and 30 Sept 2019 for a 3-day overland 4×4 tour of Lesotho, the Mountain Kingdom.
Lesotho isn’t just another country, it is another world!
This time we are going in spring for a very different country we saw in winter. Now the land is lovely and green with herders shearing their hairy sheep. The farmers are busy plowing the fields preparing to plant and the whole country is waking up after the cold winter. Read a bit more about Lesotho on our destinations page.
We stay in cosy lodges even in spring as you never know what the weather will do high up in the mountains.
We start this overland 4×4 tour of Lesotho from my home-town of Pietermaritzburg. First up is Sani pass. After a lunch and drink in Sani Pub we carry on over Black Mountain Pass. This is at 3250m above sea level so the views are incredible as we look over Lesotho. Click here to see my YouTube video of Lesotho. Tonight we stay at Molumong lodge.
Now it is further into the mountain kingdom. The scenery is just stunning as we do some fun 4×4 driving. Today’s lunch spot is under some huge Poplar trees at the start of Matabeng pass.
After lunch is a 4×4 drive over the wild Matabeng pass.
Over the other side, down the mountain to arrive at Tomatu. Sitting at our mountain lodge enjoying the peace and quiet is so good for the soul. The trip is only 3 days long but is a lovely getaway into a beautiful country.
The last day of our Lesotho adventure is spent driving past Sehlabathebe National Park. We drive out of Lesotho via Ramateliso’s gate and have lunch at the Wimpy in Kokstad.
An overland 4×4 tour of Lesotho is an adventure not to be missed.
