Lesotho Fly Fishing

Lesotho fly fishing is some of the best you can get in the world. Here we experience stunning scenery while fishing for wild trout in some of the most beautiful clear mountain streams ever. Please click here to see when we are doing this trip again. The fish we try to catch are Brown trout, Rainbow trout and Yellow fish or otherwise known as Scaleys. Most of the fishing is in flowing streams and can involve a bit of a walk. This means you also get some exercise and some great mountain views. We have everything from just a 1 day trip in the well stocked dams of the Southern Drakensberg to 3 days or more strolling along the river. Fly fishing is a real art form where we have to check out what the fish may be eating and use the appropriate fly and be careful not to scare the fish while doing some real hunting. Best of all is we don't kill the fish but release them back into the river. After taking a photo of course.

We camp in lovely mountain chalets where we must have a nice bbq in the clear evenings.

The days are usually spent starting early in the morning strolling along the river hunting for wild fish. The trip to Lesotho needs at least 4 days as it is way in Lesotho where part of the adventure is just getting there. We supply all the food and transport. Of course you are welcome to drive in your own vehicle. We also have some great fishing gear for hire and the guides are very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The only thing you need to bring are your own special drinks around the fire and some warm clothes as it can get cool in the mountains at night. To start this adventure you can either drive with us in your own 4x4 vehicle or in our vehicle leaving Pietermaritzburg or meet us at Katse lodge in Lesotho. We need passports to drive into Lesotho.
