2 Day Tour Lesotho
2 day tour Lesotho
Lesotho is not just another country, it is a wild place that we just have to explore. As we drive through an international border you must have a passport. At the top of Sani pass is the highest pub in Africa so of course we have to stop for a drink at the Sani mountain pub.
After some nice refreshments we carry on into Lesotho for a visit at a local Basotho homestead. Here we sample some home made bread and can try out some home brew. There is also a sheep shearing shed nearby that is quite something to visit. They do everything by hand but is dependent on the seasons.
Then it is up and over the highest road pass in Lesotho. Black mountain is 3250m above sea level so the views are amazing. Weather permitting we have a picnic lunch here.
After lunch we wind our way down the valley and a right turn on our way to stay at Molumong Lodge for some true Ba'Sotho hospitality. For the more adventurous we can also wild camp near a lovely mountain stream.
For the energetic we can squeeze in some pony trekking or a stroll around the hills. St James mission and church is nearby and certainly worth a visit too. After a busy day we must have a typical South African braai while watching the sun go down over an amazing mountainous country.
Finally on day 2 we have to leave this beautiful country where time stood still.
